Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give you a look into our business and who we are. There are a countless businesses in this world and they focus on a vast array of different products, ideals, and frameworks. The Geek Peek is a small business owned by myself (Mikey P.) and my partner Jill (Jilly B.). We focus on the sale of collectibles and pop culture items. The products we sell include video games, card games, board games, figurines & action figures, general toys, books, and a wide array of vintage pop culture items. Our goal has always been to find cool collectibles (vintage and modern) to sell to people who will appreciate them the most. In recent time Geek Peek has focused in heavily on Trading Cards. But we still have a massive love for collectibles of all sorts.
Who We Are:
I specialize in video games and collectible card games (Think Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering). I grew up with a family full of gamers and have bought, traded, and sold tens of thousands of video games since I was a kid. I was obsessed with Gameboy as a kid, and spent hundreds of hours beating the original Pokemon games. As I grew older, I would purchase the next generation of video games as soon as I could. I still collect video games and play them regularly; mostly PC gaming or Steam Deck these days.
Jill specializes more in board games and card games. She comes from a family that plays games together every chance they get. She has introduced me to countless games since we met 7 years ago. Because of this, we make a good pair who works to stock a diverse range of games and collectibles based upon our own individual interests.
History of The Geek Peek:
While the business has only been called The Geek Peek for about a year at this point. The journey to becoming The Geek Peek began much earlier on. I started a business in 2012 called C Town Gaming. Which was a similar business model with a heavier focus on video games and related items. The business was originally established on Ebay and later on Amazon. After a few years or running successfully I worked on having a independent site built (see below).
However, a number of issues kept the site from running the way I anticipated and I decided to focus mostly on Ebay sales. I also recorded my business and helped others to start selling on Ebay & Amazon on a Youtube channel (youtube.com/michaeljosephpierce). Things were going great, business had blown up and the youtube channel was doing exceptionally well.
in 2016, I suffered a spinal infection that left me with a number of permanent neurological issues and chronic pain. At this time I decided to close the business and to stop making YouTube videos so I could focus on recovery.
in 2018, Jill and I met and started dating. After several years of dating we decided to modernized the older business and give it another shot. In Q4 of 2021 we re-opened the Ebay store that had been shut down for nearly 6 years. To our surprise, the business blew up and we did 3x the sales we expected. Since then we have been working to procure a large array of pop culture items, collectibles, and games. We have been developing our own site, developing our brand, and cultivating relationships with local businesses that deal with estates and auctions. In the future we hope to scale our business to a much larger level. However, we want to do so in a manner that does not sacrifice our connection with all of you. We absolutely love working with collectors and admirers of the great items we work to stock and distribute. For us, this business is about cultivating a brand that brings connection through the mutual admiration of cool collectibles.
2025 Update: Since originally writing this post in 2022 our space at the Geek Peek has formed into an amazing community space where we get to spend our days with friends and admirers of many hobbies. Jill and I are so thankful for your continued support and ongoing enthusiasm for what we have created. The first few years of any business are filled with uncertainty. We have worked hard to grow our team, cultivate a safe place for all hobbies, and make decisions that will help us exist for many years to come. The Geek Peek is doing better than we could have ever imagined after 2 years. Thank you for that, Much love, Jilly B. & Mikey P.
